How far is Portofino from Rapallo?

About 6 km along the SP227 panoramic road via Santa Margherita Ligure. Car or bus takes 25-30 minutes due to summer traffic. The ferry connects Rapallo and Portofino in 25 minutes, every 1-2 hours from April to October. Walking the coastal path takes around 1h45 with sea views.

How do I get to Portofino from Rapallo without a car?

Three options: ATP bus line 82 from Piazza Molfino in Rapallo via Santa Margherita Ligure station, every 20 minutes, €3; Tigullio Maritime Service ferry from Rapallo pier, 25 minutes, €9-15; or the coastal walking path (1h45). The bus is the cheapest and most reliable year-round option.

What can I see in 3 days in the Tigullio?

Day 1: Rapallo (seafront, sea castle, cable car up to Montallegro). Day 2: ferry to Portofino, lunch at San Fruttuoso Abbey, return via Camogli. Day 3: hiking in Portofino Regional Park, or visit Sestri Levante (Bay of Silence) and Cinque Terre, reachable in 50 minutes by regional train.

Which are the most beautiful villages in the Tigullio?

Portofino (iconic but small and pricey), Camogli (painted houses, authentic feel), Santa Margherita Ligure (elegant, great cafes), San Fruttuoso (abbey reachable only by sea or trail), Sestri Levante (two bays and historic centre), Chiavari (medieval arcades and market). All connected in 15-40 minutes by train or ferry from Rapallo.

Where can I swim in the Tigullio?

For sandy beaches: Bagni Castello in Rapallo, Bay of Silence in Sestri Levante. For rocky coves and clear water: Punta Chiappa near Camogli, San Fruttuoso, Paraggi near Santa Margherita. Free beaches are less than half of the total: a typical lido costs €18-35 per day for two loungers and an umbrella.

Do I need a car in the Tigullio?

No, in fact it is discouraged. Every main village is connected by regional train (€1-2 per leg) or ferry. Portofino, Santa Margherita and Camogli have ZTL zones and parking at €3-5 per hour. A car is only useful for exploring the Portofino Park hinterland or for late evenings outside public transport hours.
